[ Before the video starts recording, the network is flooded by a dozen or so photographs, all of them taken in the area in and immediately outside of New Bark Town. When the video finally comes on, a girl who doesn't look a day older than twelve (spoilers: she's 21, not that you'd be able to tell that just from looking at her) is sitting in a tree with her back against the trunk. There's an Emolga lying draped across her lap, and she's idly scratching it behind the ears as she looks into the camera. ]

Sheesh, the camera function on this thing isn't good enough... The resolution is too low and the shots get grainy when I zoom in.

[ She shakes her head, a hint of disappointment showing on her face. ]

But it'll do in a pinch until I can get something better. Speaking of which, where can you buy decent cameras around these parts? I prefer digital ones, but I don't mind using classics like Instax or Polaroid as long as the film isn't too hard to come by.

[ Well, it seems like somebody here has her priorities exactly in order. From the looks of it, she seems more bothered about not having a decent camera on her person than the whole interdimensional kidnapping thing. She pauses briefly to wait for the Emolga to climb up onto her shoulder and settle itself there, before she continues. ]

Anyway, I've got another question. It seems like I've got two choices here - the ferry heading east, or the forest route to the west leading to... Cherryville? I don't know, I haven't memorized the names on the map yet. Which did you choose? I haven't made up my mind yet, and I'd like to know more so I can pick the more interesting option.

[ Anyone in New Bark may run into the tiny girl wandering about with her Emolga hovering in the air just a few feet away. Once in a while she stops to use her Gear to take a picture of whatever captured her interest at that moment; you can find her snapping pictures of the water by the docks, or she's crouching down to take a picture of some stones she found on the ground, or maybe she's even taking pictures of any fellow new arrival who happens to be nearby. ]

I watched a few episodes when I was a little kid. [ Back when she was even smaller than she is now. ] And I borrowed Yellow from one of my classmates; I don't remember much about the game, but the franchise got really popular for some reason.

We're... apparently there. Like in the anime, or the game. Only it's real and there are hundreds more Pokemon.

[He's aware of how crazy that sounds, but Chie has been transported to a world where she was just kicked out of a strange woman's house.]

Wow... That's pretty neat. [ Her eyes seem to light up a little - she's imagining all the new species she'd be able to take pictures of. ]

Does the background music ever stop, or do I have to get used to it?

I don't know where you can get good cameras, but I know someone who does. How much of a difference does it make, though?

I'd bet on Goldenrod or Saffron for anything like that, though. Those're the bigger cities.

I really should check them out, then... I could get some interesting pictures.

Why did the floor open up under his feet?

Yup. It's my job, too; I sell lots of pictures to newpapers and stuff. [ She pauses. ]

Huh. I guess that makes sense. Do people show up here during the winter months? Hiking through the woods while it's snowing wouldn't be fun.

Okay. [ Now that she's gotten the reminder out of the way... ] ...Is there a reason people are being brought to this world?

I'm not sure but it's happened to me too. It wasn't too far of a fall to be honest but...

The longest I have heard of so far has been three years, I think.

Oh, it's Henry Townshend, you could probably look him up and give him a call. He's always taking pictures, he'll know where the shops are.

So, you showed up in the weird magic world with probably an impossible animal, and the first thing you think of is where to get a better camera?

[He sounds pretty amused by this.]

They do, year round. The powers that summon us here don't care much for the weather.

Yup. I'm always searching for interesting things to take pictures of, and a magic world should be packed full of good photo opportunities.

[ ...Bringing Chie to Pokéworld is like bringing a child to Disneyland. ]

[...you know, he barely notices the background music anymore, but that might be because he's been in Goldenrod for so long.]

You get used to it after a while. It's a little annoying after first, but eventually you'll tune it out completely.

Okay. [ Tuning it out shouldn't take too long, she thinks. ] What else can you tell me about this place? I want to know as much as possible.

I chose to head over to Cherrygrove at first, but it should be of little consequence if you should change your mind a few weeks later. If you head up north-ish in both regions there's a train connecting two of their cities together, so if you want to head on over to Kanto from there, you'll be good to go!

...um, as long as you have a pass, of course, but those usually aren't too hard to find.

Anyway.

It's a few weeks on foot, but the shops in Goldenrod would probably have some cameras you could buy. I wouldn't know, though. The preservation of minute instances of time is something I never really learned.
